Who is this little boy and where is my baby?

Dear Jericho,
The other day I put you down for a nap and when you woke up I am pretty sure you had grown in your sleep. You looked older, you smiled big at me and it was like someone had switched babies on me. Quickly after you started trying to learn to crawl and just three days ago you learned to sit yourself up on your own. Daddy and I watch you every day wondering if "today" will be the day Jericho figures out how to crawl. Yesterday you moved one leg and one arm and moved JUST a tiny bit. I don't think you realized what happened because you didn't try it again. I'm sure you will figure it out soon though!

You are getting a lot better already from what you look like in this video. I will probably post a new one soon!

Love Always

Cheetos

Dear Jericho,
Sometimes when Mommy and Daddy are so busy with you we can't make dinner we go to Subway. It is close to the house and they have a bunch of choices to eat for dinner and Mommy doesn't have to feel like a fatty by eating McDonalds every day.
When you get a meal there you get a Sandwhich, bag of chips and a drink (I get the tea) we quickly learned that the chips were not for Mommy to eat, they were for you to play with.

Love you
Mommy

Almost Christmas.. Still

Dear Jericho,
Guess what!? You met Santa Claus! It was very nice of him to come down and hang out at the Park Place Mall for everyone to tell him what they wanted. You were no exception of course. Although you can not tell Santa Claus what you want this year, you still deserved to meet him for the first time. Since he was nice enough to send you Buddy this year, I think he would've noticed if you didn't come to say Hi and meet him. It was very important to Mommy that you did.
Sometimes, when babies meet Santa they are not very excited about it. Actually, when we went to meet Santa your friend Audrey and her Mommy went with us too. Audrey wasn't very excited to see Santa and she cried.
You however, liked Santa Claus AND his beard!! I was very happy that you were in a good mood and were very glad and happy to meet Santa Claus. I am not sure if you knew what was going on, but Santa is a very friendly man so I get sad when little kids cry when they meet him because he just wants to be everyone's friend (he of course brings presents to all the little kids who believe in him, so he of course isn't mean or scary!)

I love these pictures of you with Santa Claus. I hope we will be able to take you to see him every year as you grow up so that he can see you grow, you two can talk about how you have been a good boy (you will never be bad right?) and talk about what prize he will bring you during Christmas to reward your good behavior.

Santa Loves you.. and so does Mommy.

Oh.. Buddy

Dear Jericho,
Buddy went back to the North Pole last night. He must've told Santa that Mommy and Daddy didn't have a stocking for you because he came back with one. Does he look familiar?

I think Buddy has been playing with Frank! Regardless of Buddy's stocking inspiration. We appreciate him and Santa making one for you. I think Frank is jealous.. but You seem to like it. Buddy even wrote on the tag (Jericho <3 Santa & Buddy) He put the R backwards in Jericho.. he's learning.

Buddy is a sneaky Elf though. I almost didn't notice he took present tags and wrote Buddy <3 Santa on them all and put them over the tags that Grandma sent! Silly buddy made all of the presents for him!

He also made a mess! We have Christmas tags hanging from the Christmas tree now Thanks to Buddy's decorating ideas! I kinda like them though, so I am leaving them :) Santa will be happy to see how helpful Buddy has been while he was staying with us.

Thank you for helping Mommy clean up after buddy!

Love Mommy (and Buddy)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (6 Months)

Dear Jericho,
It is December, you have grown big and strong for 6 months now. At your doctor's appointment on the 8th we got your current stats :

15 pounds 10 ounces
27 inches long

When you were born you were 7 pounds 14.9 ounces and 21 inches long. This means you have doubled your birth weight and grown 6 inches! In addition to that, you have learned a lot (as you have seen in my other posts)

December is the start of Christmas season. Well, commercially the stores try to shove it down your throat even before Thanksgiving, but not at this house. :) We splurged this year and invested in a fake Christmas tree. As much as that hurts me to have a fake tree, it is the safest thing for you. I didn't want to worry about you eating Christmas tree needles or getting into mischief under the tree and knocking it over and spilling water everywhere.

When we got the Christmas tree up I took pictures of you with your Sissy Alexis and Daddy. We also put you in a Sherpa bear outfit that I got you from Carters (please don't hate me for this you look adorable in it) and took about 50 pictures that day.

We also introduced you to Buddy. He is our designated Elf who will be here every Christmas season to keep an eye on you and report back to Santa Claus. I was surprised that Santa sent him this year because you are too young to know if you are naughty or nice but I hope he will give us some elf magic and help with your baby temper tantrums!  The elf will be around, let's just hope he doesn't get into trouble!

I am really looking forward to Christmas this year. We don't have a lot of money to buy you dozens of gifts but Grandma and Grandpa Dude have spoiled you rotten. I've even given you a head start at opening your presents and I let you play with one each day. You just chew on them and you are not any closer to opening them.

You really like the tree and all of the lights. I purposely only decorated the top portion of the tree and didn't put many ornaments on it this year. That way you can play with the branches and not get into too much trouble. Don't Eat The Lights!!

I'm your paparazzi... Don't worry I do it for free.

Momma Guilt (5 months)

Dear Jericho,
You have learned to say "MAMA" you may have started in your 4th month, but you have it mastered along with the guilt complex too by your 5th month. Congratulations.
You now say "MAMA" whenever you are sleepy, hungry, angry and annoyed. You scream it in the middle of temper tantrums when you are playing with your toys and when you are crying. It's a funny little trick you know, because it makes Mama melt. I try really hard to ignore it and I tell myself you don't know what you are saying. Daddy says that you only say it when I'm around.

Jello (5 Months)

Dear Jericho,
You LOVE Jello. Have you heard the "a picture is worth a thousand words" saying yet? If not, here is a good example.

To The Park We Go (5 Months)

Dear Jericho,

Yesterday I took you to the park. It was so much fun (I think) for you. You went on the swing and you loved it. You reclined in typical Jericho style in the swing and giggled as I pushed you.

After the swing was SOOO yesterday I took you to the play area. You can't play on anything they have yet but you enjoyed playing with the wood chips that fill the floor of the play area and watched the children run around you as they played hide-n-go-seek.

You actually sat there for quite a while giggled and screamed every once and a while as the little girls (and one boy) ran everywhere. It was adorable. Mommy got a little choked up because there was a little boy there running around like a crazy boy and wanting to play and do everything by himself. I knew that would be you, sooner than I would like.

Doesn't that look like you had fun? I love the thought that one day you will get to see a video of yourself at this age enjoying the swing. I hope you have many more happy memories at the park.

The Crying Phase

Dear Jericho,

Congratulations, you are 5 months and 18 days old today and as of a couple days ago you have officially learned how to throw a temper tantrum. Yes.. You have your Mommy's temper and well.. let's just say that I'm trying hard not to give in and give you whatever you are throwing a fit over.

Yesterday you were playing by yourself like a good little boy with a toy ball. The ball slipped out of your hands and rolled out of reach. You struggled for a bit to get the ball and things just didn't work for you. Instead of fussing and making your normal whimper noises you pitched the biggest fit. It was like that same ball fell and hit you in the face and left a mark.. but no, it was just out of your reach. You turned red, angry and screamed at the top of your lungs. I thought something had happened to you and I wasn't really paying much attention so I thought maybe you had hurt yourself. I got the ball gave it back to you and you were happy. Then I watched you play with the ball. I admired how much you have grown and smiled at the adorable little baby in front of me happily playing with this red ball. Then.. It happened. The ball fell! It rolled out of your reach! You tried and squirmed to reach it but you couldn't. So, instead of trying to be cleaver and wiggle to get it. You SCREAMED.. LOUD.. Like someone was trying to hurt you.

I just want you to know, I know what you are up to. Mommy is NOT going to let you grow up to be a spoiled brat that gives everything to you when you cry. This is a phase and it better be over soon. :) I then took my screaming baby and made you roll over on your own in this fit of rage. I showed you how to reach out and grab the ball. Your hand met the ball and you grabbed it up off the floor. You continued to play with it and you were happy again.

The lesson of this phase is to not let you have everything you want, but to show you how to get it on your own. You appreciate things more when you learn to get them for yourself. I can not give you everything, even if it is just a little red ball outside of your reach. I will teach you the things you need to get what you want and that.. my love.. is the best gift of all.

You are my love, even when you scream.

Baby's First Halloween (4 Months)

Dear Jericho,
Happy B-Lated (That means Mommy is late) October! Your 4th month went by SUPER fast. We took a lot of cute pictures of you though. Mommy finally met your future wife's (No Pressure) Mom who she met online in her birth month board. We spent a lot of time together as you and her daughter Audrey grew right before our eyes. You two LOVE hanging out with each other. We went to a place called Apple Annie's and picked out Pumpkins and I bought apples to make you baby food.

What happens when you take two adorable babies out for the day for 2-2 hour car rides and then make them perform to take a bunch of pictures with pumpkins and anything else you can get them sitting next to? This

Speaking of BABY FOOD! You eat solid foods now. Well, they are called Purees but you love them. Mommy makes them for you by buying real fruits and veggies and mixing them together in a special blender Daddy bought just for you.

Sometimes, things get a little messy as you can imagine.

I even made you some pumpkin for you to have on Halloween. Speaking of Pumpkins. Did you know you fit inside of one?

What better to be for Halloween than a Pumpkin? I also borrowed a Lobster costume from one of my co-workers but it was huge and you disappeared in the costume. Really, the little hat part covered your whole entire head. This one was much better.
Most importantly, as you can tell. YOU CAN SIT UP ON YOUR OWN! How exciting is that? It was very exciting for Daddy and I. We are very proud of you. Now we just sit you on your play mat and you dig through all of your toys and just play with whatever you like. I think you like sitting up. You are probably proud too since you worked so hard on it.

One of the splurges this month we made was on a Jumperoo for you. Let me just say you LOVE IT! The first day you were in it playing around for 20 minutes. It did take me a long time to put it together and I was ready to put it in the box and say never mind, but just seeing you in there made it all worth it. You jump your little heart out. Your favorite part of the Jumperoo is the spinny thing. You learned to spin that very quickly and I'm pretty sure that is what entertained you for so long. Also, when we first put you in it, your feet didn't even reach the floor. I put a pillow under them so that you could bounce on it. That was awesome.

So. Back to fitting inside of a pumpkin. Well.. We took A LOT of pictures of you for Halloween. When we went to the Pumpkin Patch. We did these together with Barbara and Audrey in addition to your 4 month shoot with Tim.

And yes.. I fully intend on whipping these out when you have a girlfriend. Or whenever you make me mad and there is a girl over the house. You have a nice butt!! What's a mom to do?

Here are some of your 4 month pictures. We were at a really nice location this time. It was off in the country of the desert. I didn't even know a place like that existed here!

And.. In the spirit of Halloween, We put you inside of a crotched shark. I thought it was funny. You were a good sport. So thanks!

All my love

Mommy
